Salary to Hourly Calculator
Convert annual salary to hourly pay (or hourly to salary) plus weekly and monthly amounts.
About this salary to hourly calculator
Job offers come as salaries, hourly rates or contract day rates, which makes them hard to compare. This calculator converts any of them into the others — hourly, daily, weekly, biweekly, monthly and annual — using the hours and weeks you actually work.
The default assumes a standard 40-hour week and 52 paid weeks (2,080 hours a year). If you take unpaid time off or work part-time, change those numbers for an accurate comparison. Results are gross pay before taxes and deductions.
How to use the Salary to Hourly Calculator
- Choose whether you're starting from a salary or an hourly wage.
- Enter the amount.
- Adjust hours per week and paid weeks per year if needed.
- Compare pay across every period.
How pay is converted
Hourly = Annual salary ÷ (hours per week × paid weeks per year)
Monthly pay is annual ÷ 12, biweekly is annual ÷ 26 and weekly is annual ÷ 52. A quick mental shortcut for full-time work: halve the hourly wage and add "thousand" to get the approximate salary ($30/hour ≈ $60,000/year).
Worked example
A $60,000 salary at 40 hours a week for 52 weeks is $28.85 an hour, about $5,000 a month, $2,307.69 biweekly and $1,153.85 a week before taxes.
Tips for better results
- When comparing a salaried job to contract work, account for benefits, paid time off and self-employment tax.
- Overtime is not included; hourly workers may earn more if they work over 40 hours.
