Business Days Calculator
Count working days between two dates, optionally skipping US federal holidays.
About this business days calculator
Shipping estimates, payment terms, notice periods and project plans are usually measured in business days, which leave out weekends and public holidays. This calculator counts Monday-to-Friday working days between two dates, including both the start and end date, and can skip the 11 US federal holidays automatically.
Federal holidays that fall on a Saturday are observed on the Friday before, and those on a Sunday on the following Monday — the same rule federal offices and most banks follow.
How to use the Business Days Calculator
- Choose the start and end dates.
- Keep "exclude US federal holidays" ticked to skip them, or untick it to count weekends only.
- Read the number of business days and the holidays that were skipped.
Which holidays are excluded
New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Washington's Birthday (Presidents Day), Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Private employers and states may observe a different set, so adjust your expectations if your company closes on other days.
Worked example
From Monday, November 2 to Monday, November 30, 2026 there are 21 weekdays. Skipping Veterans Day (Nov 11) and Thanksgiving (Nov 26) leaves 19 business days.
Tips for better results
- Some deadlines start counting the day after an event — move the start date forward a day if so.
- Banks may also close on days that aren't federal holidays in your state.
