About this currency converter
Planning a trip, paying an overseas supplier or comparing prices online? This converter uses reference exchange rates that are refreshed daily for more than 160 currencies, with the most-used currencies for US travelers and businesses at the top of the list.
The rate shown is a mid-market reference rate. Banks, card networks and money-transfer services usually add a margin (spread) and fees, so the amount you actually receive will be a little lower.

Where the rates come from
Rates are loaded in your browser from a public exchange-rate service and are updated once a day, so they don't reflect minute-by-minute market moves. The conversion is amount × (rate of target currency ÷ rate of source currency), using US dollar rates as the common base.
Worked example
If 1 USD = 0.92 EUR, then 100 USD converts to 92 EUR, and 100 EUR converts back to about 108.70 USD. Actual rates change daily — the tool always shows the latest it has loaded.

- Compare the rate your bank offers with the reference rate to see how much margin you're paying.
- When paying by card abroad, choose to be charged in the local currency to avoid dynamic currency conversion markups.
