Find and Replace
Find and replace words or phrases in any text — with case, whole-word and regex options.
About this find and replace
Need to change a product name throughout a document, convert American spelling to British, or fix a repeated typo? Paste your text, enter what to find and what to replace it with, and every match is replaced instantly — with a count of how many changes were made.
"Whole words only" stops partial matches (so replacing "cat" won't change "category"), and regular expressions are available for advanced patterns.
How to use the Find and Replace
- Paste your text.
- Enter the text to find and its replacement.
- Choose match case, whole words or regular expression.
- Review the result and copy it.
Using regular expressions
With regular expressions on, you can match patterns such as \d{3}-\d{4} (phone number endings) or \s+$ (trailing spaces), and use $1 in the replacement to reuse captured groups.
Worked example
Replacing "color" with "colour" using whole words changes color palette and the color blue, but leaves Colorful untouched — 2 replacements.
Tips for better results
- Turn on "match case" when replacing names or acronyms.
- Use "Use result as input" to apply several replacements in a row.
