About this sort lines

Sorting a list by hand is slow and error-prone. Paste any list — names, products, keywords, tags, file names — and sort it alphabetically in either direction, by length, or simply reverse its order.

Sorting is "natural", so numbers inside text sort the way people expect: item 2 comes before item 10, instead of after it as in a plain character sort.

How to use the Sort Lines

  1. Paste your list, one item per line.
  2. Choose the sort order and options.
  3. Copy the sorted list.

How natural sorting works

The tool uses your browser's language-aware collator with numeric ordering, so accented letters sort sensibly and numbers are compared by value. With "ignore upper/lowercase" on, Apple and apple sort together.

Worked example

"item 10, banana, item 2, Apple, cherry" sorted A → Z becomes Apple, banana, cherry, item 2, item 10.
